Wendy Doak

Visually inspired by everything around me, I paint it all! My subjects vary from still life to seascapes, and my style changes from impressionist to abstract depending on my mood.

I’ve loved to paint canvases since high school and I majored in studio art, as well as art history, at Washington and Lee University. It was there that I was primarily influenced by the artists, Henri Matisse, Elmer Bischoff, Richard Diebenkorn, and Louise Herreshoff.

More recently, I’ve taken an interest in the work of abstract artist, Mark Rothko, as seen in my color block abstract works. Having worked in a number of Baltimore art galleries and taught high school art for five years, I now paint full time in my home studio, when I am not taking care of my husband and two kids.
